Ferries

Ferries in Amsterdam

The Amsterdam ferries, most of them departing from the central station connect the centre of Amsterdam to the north of Amsterdam by crossing the river IJ.

In total there are six ferry lines which transport pedestrians, bicycles and sometimes mopeds. Most of the lines are free with the exception of the Javaveer (Java ferry). A single crossing costs only one euro though and children until the age of six, dogs, buggies and bicycles can cross free of charge.

For more detailed information about public transport in Amsterdam and the ferry lines you should check the GVB website.
