Vondelpark
The Vondelpark, Amsterdam's most famous park, is located near the Leidseplein. In a way this is the communal garden of Amsterdam, where on warm days both tourists and Amsterdammers come to enjoy the sun (or the shade). You can rent skates to explore the park. Lots of cyclists use the park as a shortcut to cross the city. There are e few nice bars/cafes/restaurants in this park such as Het Blauwe Theehuis and Vertigo.

Amsterdamse Bos
In this wooded recreation park to the south of Amsterdam, you can rent sailing boats, canoes and pedal boats, have a drink and enjoy the view from the terrace of the Meerzicht restaurant, or go for a walk a run or a ride along the Park's many footpaths and bicycle tracks.

Westerpark
The Westerpark lies to the northwest of the city at a ten minutes walk from Central Station. It has a large pond as well as a small tennis court visitors are free to use.
Bordering on the park are the grounds surrounding the Westergasfabriek, an old industrial complex that has been converted into an entertainment complex including a theatre, art pieces, a club and a restaurant.

Gaasperpark
The Gaasperpark part of the large recreation area Gaasperplas (Gaasper Lake) is enclosed by the south eastern outskirts of the city and Gaasp river. The northern part is taken up by the permanent International Horticultural Fair Floriade. The park has extensive walking, bicycle and bridle trails, large stretches of grass, a beach for swimming, a strip for windsurfing and diving and an area for day camping. You can go out on the lake in rental sailing boats rowing boats and canoes.
