Television
Dutch television has three public channels, on which broadcasting time is divided over eight corporations, each operating from a different philosophy.
These public channels have had to compete with an increasing number of commercial networks the last two decades like RTL4, RTL5, RTL7, SBS6 and Veronica.
The public and commercial channels broadcast many English language films and series.
Usually there are three music channels available, depending on the place you live: MTV, TMF and The Box.
Teletext page 888 offers Dutch subtitles, very good to improve your Dutch!
Of course when you got cable TV it is possible to receive foreign channels as well, like French, Belgium, Spanish, German, Italian, Turkish and English.
The local Amsterdam news channel is AT5.
